LMFAO is an electro-rap duo from Los Angeles and comprised of producers/DJs/clothing designers Redfoo and SkyBlu (the son and grandson, respectively, of Motown impresario Berry Gordy). Their hunt for a moniker ended up with an iChat text from their grandmother who responded to their previous choice of Sexy Dudes—Grandma Godfoot replied, "LMFAO!”
Formed officially in Los Angeles in 2006, Redfoo and SkyBlu created a sound that can be commonly associated to serious partying in their studio apartment. A trip to Miami in 2007 gave them inspiration for their first single"I'm in Miami Bitch", which was released on MySpace in December 2008. It garnered more than 2 million plays on their MySpace page. I'm in Miami Bitch also hit the spot for indie fans, climbing to # 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 and # 37 in Canada.
Their next single as LMFAO was the suitably anthemic‘Party Rock Anthem’, which topped the charts in more than ten countries during 2011, including the U.S. The follow-up full-length, Sorry for Party Rocking, was released in June 2011.
